  Glass Crushers

Until now, there has not been a satisfactory way to collect waste glass from individual premises in relatively significant quantities. By crushing waste glass bottles into steel, 220-litre wheeled bins which can hold nearly 300kgs of cullet, a more efficient operation is obtained.  The bins are easily lifted and emptied by standard hydraulic equipment; no special vehicles or adaptations are necessary.

The major cost incentives to waste management from collecting bottles and glass containers that have been pre-crushed at source are:

•  Fewer pickups necessary for vehicles to reach their maximum payload
•  Minimal noise when bins are emptied, meaning that collection hours can be extended
•  Greater density of load ultimately leading to vehicles with much shallower profiles (route planning) and with payloads of up to 13/14 tonnes

Designed specifically for the hospitality and leisure industries and enabling meaningful cost savings to be made for premises generating significant volumes of waste glass, glass crushers benefits include:

•  220-litre steel bins holding nearly 300 kgs of crushed glass (cullet) which equates to more than five 240-litre bins or slightly more than a single 1,100-litre wheelie-bin filled with uncrushed glass
•  A great number of bottles can be fed into the machine at a time
•  Bottles of all sizes can be crushed together, saving time and the risk of accidents during unnecessary sorting process
•  Removal of the cullet is considerably quieter than dealing with whole bottles, eliminating concerns over the sensitive issue of noise at collection times
•  Non of the cullet collected is landfilled, an important consideration for environmentally-aware businesses
The environmental benefits of glass crushers include:

•  Reducing the number of collections from premises; thus reducing numbers of vehicle movements, and so traffic congestion and vehicle emissions
•  Greatly improved collection efficiencies make waste glass recycling more economically viable
•  Collected glass sent for recycling rather than being sent to landfill
•  Noise during collection times is minimised
